A South Norfolk village primary that made news when it adopted a school dog has gained an across the board 'good' rating from Ofsted inspectors.
Old Buckenham Primary School, near Attleborough, was judged to be 'good' in every category in its first Ofsted inspection since it converted to an academy under the Sapientia Education Trust in 2016.
While stating the school has experienced staff changes, the report finds: 'Leaders' high expectations have resulted in improvements to the quality of teaching, learning and assessment. These raised expectations are seen in the work in pupils' books, visits to lessons, discussions with pupils and the school's own regular checks on the quality of teaching.'
Inspectors urged the school to accelerate pupils' progress and raise standards in reading, writing and mathematics and strengthen the early year provision.
Last September the school pupils and staff adopted six-month-old Hugo, a Cockapoo, as the school dog and he has become a regular feature in classrooms.
