Barrie Kitchen, whose late father owned the car, had been hoping the sale would make thousands after the car was discovered to be one of a kind. The Standard 12 was a one-off, possibly built for the 1933 Motor Show.
But there was limited interest from bidders at Horner's auction house. Mr Kitchen said: “It was a disappointment, though it was in a bit of a bad state after all these years.”
The car was sold as part of the estate of Derek Kitchen, a former partner of Kitchen Brothers garage in Diss. He had never got round to restoring it and it had been in a farm building at Tibenham airfield for many years.
