Gym-goers will from next month be staying fit in gleaming new surroundings after the opening date was revealed for a Norfolk town leisure centre that has undergone a major £2 million renovation.

The final stage of work is currently being undertaken on the redevelopment of Long Stratton Leisure Centre, in Swan Lane, including improvements to the sports hall and changing rooms and new equipment.

South Norfolk Council, which runs the centre, has announced that the new centre will open on Monday March 18. However people will get a chance to take a sneak peek on March 16 and 17 between 10am and 4pm.

New facilities include a 75 station gym, two fitness studios and new changing rooms and showers. A first-floor extension features a new cafe and a soft play area for youngsters.

South Norfolk Council hopes the refurbishment will help meet extra demand due to the more than 1,800 new homes planned for the village.
