Police were called out last night when residents heard loud noises coming from a school nearby.
The residents rang the police when they heard banging coming from a builder’s cabin at Diss Junior school just before 9.45pm.
Police were on the scene at The Entry just off Frenze road within four minutes and checked the whole site but found nothing.
PC Jim Squires said that the public should remain vigilant following a spate of burglaries in Diss, and contact the police if they see or hear anything suspicious.
He said: “ I would say that although this incident is non crime related and no one was found on the premises South Norfolk Police are glad members of the public are calling about this type of suspicion.
“In the light of the recent spate of burglaries we will be investigating any suspicious activity reported to us.”
