Residents were advised to keep their homes secure following a spate of recent burglaries when the county’s police and crime commissioner held a street surgery.
Lorne Green spoke to members of the public in Diss Morrisons, along with the engagement officer for South Norfolk PC Jim Squires, on Friday, June 16. Mr Green said: “Today is all about engagement, giving the public the informal opportunity to meet with the police.”
In light of the recent burglaries in Diss, one of the main issues Mr Green and PC Squires wanted to impress on members of the public was the importance of keeping homes secure.
PC Squires said: “Many thieves we encounter just try their luck in the hope of finding a property that’s not been left securely.
“We would advise residents to make sure you’re leaving all doors and windows locked overnight as otherwise you’re leaving yourself at far greater risk of being burgled.”
