The search has begun to find new allotment land in Diss after it emerged that there was an almost 12 month wait for available plots.
Officials from Diss Town Council are looking to work with their neighbours in Roydon to identify a suitable piece of land to meet the demand for more allotments.
The town's 60 allotment plots are already fully occupied and clerk Deborah Sarson told councillors on Wednesday night that there were not many tracts of land available in Diss. She added that informal discussions had begun with Roydon Parish Council to find a solution.
Glyn Walden, who leases an allotment plot in the town, added that the number of green fingered residents on the allotment waiting list had reduced in recent months.
'There is less than a year's wait for allotments at the moment and Diss does honour its commitment to provide allotments,' he said.
