A-level pupils from across south Norfolk began arriving to pick up their exam results this morning.

And many will have suffered a sleepless night as they waited to open the envelopes announcing what their future would hold, in the short-term at least.

Headteacher, Neil McShane, said: 'We are, as ever, immensely proud of the achievements of our students, many of whom have recorded truly outstanding grades this year. This cohort has produced very creditable results and they can feel justly proud of themselves. Students have worked in partnership with their teachers who have provided them with high quality tuition and guidance. They have also benefitted from the excellent support of their parents.'

Headteacher Dr Jan Hunt said: 'I am delighted with the success of our students most of whom have already had their university places confirmed.'

• HARTISMERE SCHOOL

Harltismere School chose not to disclose its results, but director of sixth form Sarah Gray said: 'We are so pleased with the excellent results achieved by our students at both AS and A2.

'The students' fantastic results reflect the hard work and commitment they have shown throughout sixth form.

'The students and their parents and teachers should be justly proud of all their achievements.'

Steve Crump, headteacher, said: 'Once again, the hard work of our staff with the support of parents has ensured our Year 13 students can benefit from an excellent range of higher education courses.

'We are delighted that almost a quarter of our students got at least one A*, and all the girls who applied were accepted into their first choice of university.

'Our ethos is always to work with pupils regardless of their abilities to realise their potential.'
