Police are investigating reports of doorstep scam artists in South Norfolk claiming to be offering insulation on behalf of councils.

Householders are being warned to be on their guard against cold callers knocking on doors in connection with insulation and making claims that they have connections to Norfolk County Council or South Norfolk Council.

Norfolk Trading Standards has issued an alert over the claims, that are not are genuine. Anyone who has received such cold call is being urged to report incidents on 03454 040506.

Police said they are looking for the people involved in the scam and also urged people to contact 101 if they are approached. Anyone who feels threatened should call 999.

The scam is the latest linked to colder weather. Trading standards recently warned about telephone cold calls regarding loft insulation. A Norfolk resident was offered a 'free insulation survey'. The cold caller then attempted to pressure the call recipient into making an appointment for a home visit.
