A day to celebrate the best of what South Norfolk has too offer has been called the biggest show of the council’s year as it returned for its ninth year.
With more than 100 attractions, stalls and fun activities, hundreds of families flocked to South Norfolk on Show at the Council’s offices in Long Stratton.
South Norfolk Council’s deputy leader councillor Michael Edney said: “It was a fantastic day. The weather was beautiful and everywhere you looked there were people enjoying themselves.
“The entertainment, particularly the strong woman, kept the crowds enthralled and the kids loved the Mad Science Shows.”
The Council launched its free table tennis festival “Ping!” at the show and the two table tennis tables were packed all day.
The festival runs for 12 weeks from Sunday, July 1 to Friday, September 21 and tables can be found at The Memorial Playing Field in Hethersett, Mulbarton Village Hall, Poringland Community Centre and the Memorial Leisure Centre in Harleston.
Mr Edney added: “It was great to be able to meet so many of our residents and let them know about all the services we offer.
“Attracting such a large crowd is also brilliant for the local businesses, charities and entertainers who take part.
“South Norfolk has so much to offer and the Show is a fantastic opportunity to showcase everything that makes it such a great place.”
Families also made commemorative poppies which have formed part of an art instillation to remember South Norfolk soldiers who fought during the First World War and can be seen in the council’s reception at Long Stratton.
Voting has also opened for the council’s Pub of the Year Awards and to celebrate its tenth year, there are four new categories for people to vote in: 1. Outstanding Community Focus, 2. Best Customer Service, 3. Most Family Friendly, 4. Tastiest Food and Drink.
To vote, let the council know the name and area of your pub, and which category you are voting for (1,2,3 or 4) by text to 87007, email firstname.lastname@example.org, or via the competition posts on Facebook.
