A new orchestra has been set up by two Norfolk music teachers.

Piano and woodwind teachers Theresa Long, 47, and Laura Western, 30, were fed up of not having enough opportunities to play in south Norfolk, so decided to create their own.

Several months later South Norfolk Orchestra held its first rehearsal on March 5.

Ms Long, from Ditchingham, said: “We are open to all ages and abilities. We’re just trying to encourage people back into music. We are relaxed and friendly and have biscuits.”

The orchestra, which will be conducted by the teachers, will focus on modern music, particularly film scores such as Pirates of the Caribbean.

In the future Ms Long said they hope to perform in concert.

The orchestra meets on Tuesdays from 6.30pm-8pm at Framlingham Earl High School. For more information contact southnorfolkorchestra@outlook.com
