Police have carried out speed checks on a rural road where the death of a cyclist led to a campaign for greater enforcement.

Officers issued traffic offence reports after stopping motorists travelling at speeds in excess of the 30mph limit in Winfarthing and on Shelfanger Road.

The speed gun checks carried out on Saturday (December 14) were on the B1077 Diss to Attleborough road where the speed limit varies between 30mph through Shelfanger and Winfarthing, but rise to 60mph between the villages and Diss.

It follows the death of Kenneth Cobourne, 46, from Banham, in a collision with a van on a series of sharp bends on the 60mph section of the single carriageway rural road.

Officers also carried out speed checks in the 30mph limits in Shimpling, Alburgh and Bunwell issuing two traffic offence reports for speeds in excess of 40mph.
