St Mary’s Church in Gissing to host series of events celebrating its restoration

A church which has undergone a major restoration project is celebrating the near of completion of works with a series of summer events.

In 2016, St Mary’s Church, in Gissing, near Diss received a £208,000 grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund to allow some much needed repairs to be carried out on the building’s rare and historic roof.

Now, in order to promote the church and to encourage visitors to see the buildings unique interior the church will be holding a series of events throughout the summer.

In April, the church will host a concert by the Pulham Orchestra followed later in the month by a talk on Churchyard conservation by Emily Nobbs,

In May, UEA lecturer Tom Williamson will give a talk on Norfolk’s woodlands. In June the church will welcome a performance from Gissing Singers and UEA lecturer Sarah Cassel who give a talk on church architecture.
