A talented teenager from Starston is wowing audiences in a UK-wide singing competition.

Twelve-year-old Breeze Redwine has reached the regional finals of the TeenStar competition run by Future Music and is now only one song away from possibly reaching the grand final at the NEC in Birmingham.

At the regional finals last month at Dingwalls in Camden, Breeze sang Hallelujah by Alexandra Burke.

Breeze said: 'I stated to singing when I was 10. I really enjoy it. 'Performing was scary at first but I am now getting used to it.'

The Archbishop Sancroft High School student comes from a musical family with her brother Axl playing in bands and her great-grandmother an amatuer opera singer.

Breeze's mother Jackie Redwine said: 'When Breeze sings we all listen. We got her singing coaching and now she is doing really well.

'Singing has really helped her confidence, she becomes a different person. I am very proud of her.'

Breeze is now working with her vocal coach Lisa Redford to choose her next song to perform at the next stage of the competition at the Hayes Theatre in Middlesex.

The teenager has her heart on releasing an album in the future but also wishes to pursue a career in sport.

Breeze said: 'I love my singing but I also love sprint running.

'My idol is Usain Bolt. Maybe I will become a PE teacher - one that sings.'

TeenStar had more than 8,000 acts audition last year and again has started a search for the UK's best singers, singer-songwriters and rappers aged 19 or under with the winner receiving £5000, recording studio time at some of the country's best studios and singing lessons.

Judges are made up of people who work in the music industry and attend every stage of the competition from the singing auditions to the grand final.

TeenStar gives the opportunity for the young vocalists to perform in front of judges from major record labels including Universal, Warner and Sony.
