Successful year for haulage company
A south Norfolk business is celebrating a successful year which has seen them gain 30 new clients.
Neil Bomford Haulage, at Speedwell Way in Harleston, became a member of the palletised freight network Pall-Ex - which is owned by television personality Hilary Devey from Dragon’s Den - two years ago.
It has already doubled the number of pallets being collected and delivered and generated £1m in revenue through the Pall-Ex network.
Steve Reed, network director at Pall-Ex said: “Neil Bomford Haulage has been an excellent addition to the Pall-Ex family.
“We are constantly striving to improve both services and opportunities for our members. To know that our marketing efforts have won clients for Neil Bomford Haulage is exactly what we are aiming for.”
Founded in 1980 as a partnership, the company traded as Neil Bomford Haulage Contractors with an initial fleet of two tractor units and four open flat trailers mainly transporting timber products nationwide.
The operation continued to grow and in the early 1990s Neil Bomford had twenty four vehicles, sixty trailers and their own commercial vehicle workshop before acquiring the assets of Westwood Transport in 1996 and a 30,000 sq ft storage facility was added to the existing site in 2002.
The haulage company, which covers the NR postcode area as well as part the IP region, has one hundred and fifty trailers and ninety vehicles.
David Waterman, business development manager of Neil Bomford Haulage, added: “Being part of the Pall-Ex network has allowed us to gain access to businesses that previously we were unable to get close to.
“Not only has the brand opened doors in terms of new contracts, but I am also convinced that the quality of the Pall-Ex IT systems has led to improved account retention of our clients.
“We are focused on continued growth at Neil Bomford Haulage. Since becoming a member we have increased staffing levels five times, something we are looking to further expand on in the coming years.”
