A care home has unveiled plans to turn part of its garden into a conservation area for both residents and their visitors to enjoy.
The gardens of The Depperhaugh nursing home, in Hoxne, Suffolk, were designed by Admiral Baldwin Walker in the 1860s.
Now, more than one hundred years later, the Care Home has commissioned Eye-based conservationist Tim Page to create a £10,000 wildlife haven focussed around the garden's pond.
Work on the project will begin at the start of April, using part of a bequest left by former resident Joan Fitzpatrick.
The wildlife area will feature plants chosen especially to attract insects such as dragonflies and lady birds.
A children's playground featuring an area for a camp fire and den building will also be created.
Home manager Maxine Smith said: 'As well as being a great facility for the grandchildren of our residents, I am also hoping this would be used regularly by children from the local school.'
