Eight caravans towed by 4x4 vehciles and vans arrived and set up camp on the public park beside Diss Mere in the centre of the town on May 2.

The caravans have been sited close to the town's main public children's area and public toilets on the six-acre site, which is overseen by Diss Town Council.

The council had issued the group with a notice to leave requesting that they leave by the end of today (May 7) or the authority would begin action through the county court. But ahead of the deadline the travellers had today left the park.

Diss Town Council workers could be seen inspecting the site and the nearby public toilets and clearing the park where the caravans had been sited.
