For the first of this year's classic film shows on Sunday, March 29, at 2.30pm at the old Wymondham Regal, now part of the local Ex-Services' Club, the Regal Experience Group, assisted by Hollywood Cinemas, has invited back Jean Kent, who starred in almost 50 films from 1930s to the 1970s. Jean will be attending the screening of Trottie True, made in 1949 and last shown at the Regal on July 1 1950.
Described as an entertaining romp with Jean in the title role, the film charts the life and loves of an Edwardian Gaiety Girl.
Among Jean's other best remembered films are Good Time Girl in 1948. And She starred with Marilyn Monroe and Sir Laurence Olivier in The Prince and The Showgirl in 1957.
Also showing will be a British Gaumont newsreel featuring Jean's wedding in April 1946 when Stewart Granger was the best man.
There will also be an exhibition of Jean's career.
Made in 1949, the supporting film, Village in a Wheatfield, takes a look at life in a East Anglian village close to the Suffolk-Norfolk border. The village in question may be Rickinghall.
The star prize in the raffle will be a copy of Robert Vaughn's autobiography, signed by him. The American actor is the last survivor of The Magnificent Seven and starred in The Man From UNCLE.
