Police are appealing for witnesses after a thief smashed into a home and stole items including a diamond engagement ring.

Police were called to a property on Mill Lane in Hopton, near Diss, at about 4pm on Wednesday, April 3 after reports that a patio door from the conservatory at the rear has been smashed.

Rooms inside the home had been searched with cupboards and drawers opened. It is thought the nine carat gold engagement ring with a large white diamond in the centre was stolen.

Whilst the person who had called police was waiting for them to arrive he saw a man run away from the house across the back garden. He was described as aged between 20 and 30 years old, of average build, with dark hair and wearing a black polo top and blue jeans.
