Police are searching for the driver of a car involved in a Christmas Eve hit-and-run accident in south Norfolk which left a 67-year-old woman critically injured.

Police are searching for the driver of a car involved in a Christmas Eve hit-and-run accident in south Norfolk which left a 67-year-old woman critically injured.

The woman, who has not been named, suffered serious head injuries when she was knocked down in North Green Road, Pulham St Mary, at around 6pm on Thursday.

Officers urged the driver to come forward. They also want to speak to a second motorist.

A police spokesman said of the victim: 'She is described as being in a critical condition.

'The circumstances of the collision are still being investigated, but it is believed she was struck by a small red vehicle described as either a car-derived van with rear windows or an adapted Motability-style vehicle.'

He added: 'We are urging the driver of this vehicle to come forward without delay as it is likely that they will be fully aware of the collision.

'We are also keen to speak to the driver of a beige vehicle who is believed to have been in conversation with the offending driver just prior to the collision.'

The accident happened at the junction of Norwich Road in Pulham St Mary as a vehicle was reversing around the corner of the road.

The woman was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.
