With a whole array of music festivals to choose from throughout Norfolk and Suffolk during the summer months, it is hard to take your pick.

But what makes South Norfolk's WoW festival special, says its organiser Geoffrey Dixon, is its size and emphasis on local talent, as well the big names.

The festival at Woolsey Bridge Fields, just a mile and a half from Diss, is now in its eighth year and attracts people internationally as well as locally.

In fact, Mr Dixon believes residents will come and camp at the festival too - just so they can be part of the weekend party.

And there is definitely a showcasing of all that is best about local talent and food that marks out this festival.

'We do support local musicians - that's an important part of the festival,' says Mr Dixon.

'We will have seen nearly every band that's playing at WOW - that's how we make our selection.

'And then we bring bigger bands in. We are taking people who come to the festival on a journey - we curate the event.'

This year the line-up features Hip Hop band, Mouse Fit and Horsman - big on the reggae scene - as well as Ushti Baba and numerous other bands.

Catering is locally sourced and last year's feedback study showed festival goers rated it highly.

Main caterer Lou Hinds, from Diss, will be providing bacon sandwiches from first thing in the morning to hotpots, curries, vegan dishes and teas and coffees throughout the day.

There will be a children's craft area, a sofa tent for relaxing, a wood fired sauna, hot tub and shower as well as craft, clothing, braiding and henna stalls.

'We are providing a full festival experience without the crowds and crushes,' said WoW's festival organiser.

'At WoW you are never more than five minutes from your tent. You can stagger back and fall into it within minutes of leaving the festival - and our loos are spotless.'
