Hundreds packed out Wymondham at the weekend when the town got a head start in celebrating St George's Day.
It is the first time that Wymondham Lions Club has organised the extravaganza to commemorate England's patron saint and it brought the annual event to new levels.
There have been celebrations in the town on the nearest Saturday to St George's Day for the past 10 years but these have always been on a small scale.
However a parade and afternoon of activities, including fancy dress, dancing and a medieval fair, drew hundreds on Saturday, five days before the saint's day.
The sun smiled down as a huge crowd gathered to see St George walk in procession from Wymondham Abbey to the Market Place to slay the fearsome Dragon.
During the afternoon there were Morris Dancers (who brought their own dragon to take on St George!) Stocks, Skittles, the Great Wymondham Brush Race, stalls and local fayre.
In addtion, Wymondham Town Mayor and long standing Lions member Len Elston celebrated his 80th birthday on the day and the whole town sang him "Happy Birthday"
