DISS manager Robert Taylor looks set to land former Norwich City and France U21 international Cedric Anselin.

Carl Moore, the Diss-based businessman who helped bankroll the Canaries signing of Darren Huckerby and who also helped resurrect the career of Norwich boxer Jon Thaxton, has agreed to be the club's new sponsor and his association already looks to have paid dividends.

Anselin was released this week by Ridgeons League Premier Division side Dereham Town and Taylor was quick to approach the player.

The 30-year-old midfielder began his career in his native France with Bordeaux and Lille.

While with Bordeaux, he played in the 1996 UEFA Cup Final alongside, among others, Zinedine Zidane and Bixente Lizarazu.

“We had a meeting last night where it was agreed that Carl Moore would sponsor the club,” said Taylor, who joined Ridgeons Division One side Diss after the departure of aul Tong.

“It was a very positive meeting and we talked about the direction the club wanted to go.

“There are three or four more players that I want to bring in, and they are all good footballers. We'll have to wait and see. I've got 18 players in the squad and things are looking good,” added Taylor.

Talks are on-going with Anselin but Taylor did confirm that he has signed former Cambridge United, Sudbury and Dereham midfielder Adie Hayes on a one-year deal.

Anselin joined English club Norwich City on loan towards the end of the 1998-99 season and signed permanently for a fee of £250,000 in the summer of 1999.

He found it difficult to settle at Carrow Road due in part to the language barrier, and the club agreed to release him in the summer of 2001.

He spent the majority of the 2001-02 season with Scottish club Ross County before his career took him to Bolivian team Oriente Petrolero.

He returned to England and had a short spell with Cambridge United before moving into non-league football.

A brief spell at King's Lynn was followed by a move further down the league pyramid to Dereham Town late in 2007.

After relegation into Division One at the end of the 2006-7 season, Diss narrowly missed out on promotion back to the Premier Division after a disappointing fourth-placed finish.
