STRADBROKE A chalked up another routine victory as they aim for promotion to MSC Alliance Section A against neighbours Worlingworth, by eight wickets.

Stradbroke's Billy Freeman located wicket-taking areas, removing the first three batsmen, anxious to get away from the other end where Sam Johnson was bowling very quickly and very frugally.

Roger Gobbitt (44) and Rob Von Elling (56) responded as they knew they had to.

But any alarms for the home team were assuaged by Lee Bedwell who removed both on his way to 4-24, aided by a blinding catch from the ubiquitous Freeman.

The Worlingworth total was 161.

David Allum hit 23 out of 38 to give the innings early impetus but when Payne induced a nick from Taylor, 46-2 suddenly looked vulnerable.

However, having lost more than four wickets only once this season, Alan Barker barred the door.

His ability to score a boundary off every four ball means he need not take risks.

At the other end Alex Fitchett began to find the form that has been missing of late, to the delight of everyone at the club, and soon the match became a procession.

Six bowlers tried but they would not be parted.

By the time Fitchett hit a six into the car park the pair had added 116, Barker (76) and Fitchett (35), with 10 overs to spare.

Comfort zones are dangerous things in sport, although Stradbroke seem to have found theirs.

Worlingworth II 161, Stradbroke A 162-2.
