Diss Town slipped to a 6-0 defeat at Stanway Rovers.

The Tangerines went into this match hoping to find some form after a poor start to the season but had an afternoon to forget.

Chris Bird and Jon Abbott came for their first starts of the season, in goal and at full back respectively. However, Diss got off to the worst possible start, conceding after the match was barely a minute old. Abbott headed a corner clear, only for Meadows to cross to the far post, finding Ray Turner who scored with a header from point-blank range.

Diss managed to steady themselves and it looked like they might hold out with a 1-0 deficit until half-time but Craig Hughes' shot from 25 yards found its way into the bottom corner to give Rovers a 2-0 lead.

Bird prevented Rovers from increasing their lead in the 60th minute when he made an excellent one-handed save to turn Hampson's shot just past the foot of the post.

But Rovers' pressure finally paid off in the 65th minute when Adam Hampson scored to give them a three-goal cushion. Richard Meadows effectively killed-off the game in the 75th minute, after Mark Shadrack lost possession on the edge of the area.

Meadows slotted home Rovers' fifth of the afternoon and in the seventh minute of injury-time Meadows completed his hat-trick.

Norwich United 4 Diss Town 0

Diss fell to their second heavy defeat in a matter of days on Tuesday night as they were well beaten by in-form Norwich United.

After their poor start to the season the Tangerines were dealt a cruel blow in the sixth minute when a left foot shot from 25 yards out from Andrew Cusack seemed to be heading wide of Chris Bird's left hand post. However, the ball took a massive deflection off Chris Collins-Reed and went low and just inside Bird's right hand post.

United were forcing a number of corners and their aerial superiority produced a second goal in the 30th minute when Andy Eastaugh headed in a free-kick taken from the right.

Diss found themselves 3-0 down in the 57th minute when another off target shot took a wicked deflection and flew in. McAnally kept out an effort from Rocastle but United had more of the second half attacking and made it 4-0 through Shipley.
