An air of excitement filled the anglers who congregated for the last round of the Gordon Johnson Trophy on Sunday.
Four anglers were separated by just two points, so a good match meant anyone could walk away with the cup.
Peter Wall did just what he needed to do. Already leading the race for the cup, he fished the perfect match and took the win. Fishing the long pole Wall caught mainly roach with the odd skimmer for his 13lb.
Bill Davies suffered from lost fish yet again to deny him the win. A tench on the tip raised Davies' hopes, then a switch to the pole brought lots of small fish until the skimmers and carp pushed out the roach. He fell short by a pound when he weighed in 12lb. Karl Hales was third.
