Saturday saw a competitive field of 80 take part in Diss Golf Club's Hillside Classic, a mixed singles Stableford. The event, sponsored by Hillside Office Supplies, was played in fine but windy conditions with 12 players beating the par for the course, a higher than average result.

Kerry Enever took the ladies' prize with a commendable 35 points, with Silke Shelenz winning the nearest the pin prize on the 15th hole. In the men's section, the result for third was decided on countback, with Josh Driver prevailing over Nathan Ambrose and Adrian Izod, all scoring 39 points. Josh also received the nearest the pin prize on the fourth hole. Tony Helsby was runner-up with a fine 40 points, but the clear winner was club captain Ken Bowman with a superb 41 points. The event was followed by a hog roast and race night.
