To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the opening of the outdoor green at Diss and District Bowls Club, a team from the Norfolk WBA, led by the president Margaret Tubby, played three rinks from Diss ladies' section.
Three rinks from the gentlemen's section played host to rinks from Attleborough Connaught, Dickleborough Rectory and Long Stratton clubs - a most enjoyable game on a very hot day.
Outdoor honorary secretary Angela Bailey introduced club presidents Mary Johnson and Brian Flaxmer, club chairman Colin Manning and gentlemen's captain Eric Rawsthorne.
At the after-match dinner, Mr Flaxmer welcomed, thanked and proposed the toast to all the guests. Mrs Johnson made a presentation to Mrs Tubby who responded on behalf of the guests. Apologies and greetings were expressed from Norfolk County EBA president Brian Howes who was unable to attend due to the county EBA finals being played at the Norfolk Bowling Club.
A ladies' triple from Diss and District, Brenda Mark, Carole Baker and Mary Johnson represented Norfolk A at the national finals being held at Leamington Spa.
They beat Cambridgeshire 24-7 in the first round but met their match in the second round, losing to Worcester 14-20.
