Diss put on a great bowling and fielding performance against Bradfield with man-of-the-match honours going to Chris Germon (5-28).

Skipper Dave Tooke lost the toss and Diss were sent in to bat. Diss soon lost their first wicket with the score on 14.

This brought the in-form James Wilby to the crease and, together with opener Brown, he pushed the score along to 56 before Brown fell lbw for 23. Wilby was caught and bowled for 34.

Two disastrous run-outs saw the end of both the Tooke brothers, Robert on 17 and David for 15.

William Dawson (24) and Chris Cooper (7) took the score along to 112 before Cooper was bowled. Dawson fell soon after.

Some big hitting from Henry Rush (20no) managed to push the Diss total up to 150. This had looked to be 30 to 40 runs short on what was a good batting surface.

Some tight early bowling meant that Diss got off to a steady start.

The first wicket fell with the score on 17, through a brilliant piece of work behind the stumps by Rob Tooke, who managed to stop a wide leg-side delivery then get up and throw down the stumps.

The next wicket to fall was also a run out, good work in the field from Si Cooper meant Bradfield's dangerman Bidwell went without scoring.

Two wickets soon become three when Germon dismissed Kimber the very next ball.

This left Bradfield reeling at 21-3 but a good partnership from opener Abbs (49) and Holmes pushed the score to 83.

Dave Tooke took the wicket of overseas player Holmes (19) with the help of a good catch behind the stumps from brother Rob.

Opener Abbs (49) soon followed caught at slip, again off the bowling of Tooke.

Some lusty blows from skipper Yarham (21) meant that at 116-6 with 14 overs left in the game it was still going down to the wire.

Germon picked up three wickets, leaving the home side 124-9 with 10 overs to go.

This left Diss needing one wicket for victory and in the last over of his spell Germon got the wicket of Locke (17) with a good catch on the boundary from S Cooper, with Bradfield just 23 runs short.
