Diss Res 4, Stowmarket Res 0

DISS Reserves won their second game of the season with a convincing performance against Stowmarket Reserves and could have scored more than the four goals.

Diss had most of the first half attacking play but early shots from Kirk Bardsley and Jordan Rocastle from just outside the penalty area were just wide.

Craig Langfield did well to use his feet to keep out a shot after Rocastle had turned on to a Karl Ansley pass near halfway and run deep into the visiting penalty area.

Soon after a Bardsley free-kick wide on the right and some 45 yards from goal bounced up onto the bar.

Rocastle turned and played the ball through to Dan Wynne. Appeals for offside were denied and Wynne moved through to shoot in from six yards out. Steve Wright hit the crossbar when Rocastle hit a centre across with an overhead kick.

Just into the second half Rocastle accelerated from 35 yards out and moved through to score from eight yards.

Stowmarket then had their best spell of the match with Aaron Bunn doing well to save a 15-yard Bruce Clarke shot.

Then Bunn did even better to dive low to his left to push a 25-yard Tom Abbott shot away.

The third Diss goal came in bizarre fashion when Steve Crawshaw (MoM) played a free-kick towards Wynne. His movement towards the ball deceived Langford and the ball trickled in to the net with no contact from any player.

In added time Wynne released Wright to run and beat a defender for 4-0.

Diss Reserves next play Yarmouth, away on Tuesday night.
