Dennis Sore turned in two great performances as he helped his Palgrave Tornadoes team to a win and a draw in the Speedy Bat Sports Division One of the Diss and District Table Tennis League.

In the first match they beat Botesdale Batters 7-3, but it was nearly the Batters' Nigel Bowen who was undefeated as he was beaten in a close game by Sore 11-6, 7-11, 6-11, 11-7, 9-11. Sore was well supported by Ted Ling and Colin Manning, although both lost to Bowen, the latter 11-7 in the fifth.

In Tornadoes' next match they drew with Shotguns E 5-5, where Sore won all games without dropping a leg.

However, Billy Howe and Richard Pursehouse brought the E team back in the match with a brace apiece before the pair teamed up in the doubles to beat Sore/Richard Woods 11-6, 11-3, 18-16.

Newton Flotman extended their lead at the top of the division following a 7-3 win over Aslacton B, with Kieran Brady scoring a maximum, although he was taken to the fifth leg by both Nigel Barker and Lionel Coe.

Palgrave Stars also had a 7-3 win over Thrandeston, with Terry Rayner and David Leeder in fine form. Rayner did not lose a leg but Leeder had to work for his wins as he narrowly beat John Pestel 9-11, 10-12, 11-4, 11-4, 11-8 and Kevin Smith 8-11, 11-6, 11-5, 5-11, 11-9.

In the Leisure Sport Premier Division, Shotguns A drew 5-5 with Shotguns C before beating Shotguns D 6-4. John Monk

was unbeaten in the draw for the C team, whilst Peter Maybury achieved the same feat for the A team against the D team.

Elsewhere, Roydon beat Palgrave 10-0 without too much of a problem and a two-man Aslacton team beat a two-man Withersdale team 5-4. Withersdale's Steve Griffee was unbeaten on the night.
