Any local derby can be a hard-fought battle and this top versus bottom of the table did not disappoint, as Harleston Magpies won 2-1 at Dereham. Harleston arrived hoping to extend their winning run to 12 games. After good play down the right from Sumner and Bale, the ball broke to Hipwell at the far side of the D, who lashed the ball goalwards, only to find a defender's foot, which looped the ball over the despairing Dereham keeper. With the momentum now with Harleston, they continued to press for the second, and were duly rewarded when Hipwell dispatched a trade-mark short corner.

Again Dereham pushed forward in the second half, forcing Harleston deeper and deeper into their own half, limiting their attacks. Despite winning two corners, the team could not convert either and it started to look like it could be one of those days. With 20 minutes to go, Dereham started to turn on the pressure and it wasn't long before they converted a short corner of their own. Harleston were now up against it but the team managed to survive a barrage of short corners and even a strong penalty flick appeal, when Gill was deemed to be outside of the post following a struck short corner.
