Dereham headed to league champions Cambridge City knowing a win would secure them third place in the league and duly won 1-2.

The away team started brightly, putting the Cambridge back four under pressure. The pairing of Charlotte Taylor and Grace Cresswell used their pace and skill to cause problems for the city defenders.

The first goal seemed elusive as the posts were hit and shots were saved on the line, but finally one was scrambled in by debutant Emma Symington. Awesome team defence kept the Cambridge side wanting especially after captain and player of the match Becca Colman saved multiple efforts on the line in what was a frantic end to the half.

A half-time talk by coach Andy Lawrence saw the side regain their composure and a second goal, from Georgie Edwards, gave the side some breathing space until a stunning solo effort by a Cambridge forward closed the gap to 2-1.
