Diss aim for four in row

Diss Town, who made it three wins in a row by beating Swaffham, will hope to make it four away at Clacton Town on Saturday (3pm) in Ridgeons League Division One.

One of the outstanding league fixtures for Diss Town now has a date - Diss will travel to Gorleston on Tuesday, January 20.

Diss have signed keeper Matty Hill from Norwich United. It will be his second spell at Diss - he played under boss Robert Fleck.

Diss made it three wins in a row as they recorded their second home league win of the season against The Pedlars 2-0, for whom defeat meant that they drop to the bottom of the table.

The visitors had a chance to open the scoring but James Wilson cleared a shot off the line.

The Tangerines took the lead in the 11th minute with a move down the right wing. Mark Shadrack found Andy Moody. He turned and crossed with his left foot for Ben Soanes to flick the ball on at the near post and Steve Wright headed in at the far post. Ashley Smith made a stunning save in the 23rd minute when he arched upwards to his right to push a header from Andrew Chatters over the bar.

There was an amazing let-off for Swaffham when Partridge went clear and watched as his shot struck the inside of a post and rolled back for Brookes to pick up.

With just a one-goal lead Diss could ill afford the failure to clear a 63rd minute free-kick and were left to count their blessings when Kyle Plumb shot wide when unmarked.

Diss scored their second goal in the 73rd minute. Ed Cussons played a fine through-ball to send Partridge racing into the penalty area.

His heels were clipped by David Spalding and a penalty was awarded. Brookes dived low to his left to push away the penalty from Hayes with George Wilson quickest to react to put the loose ball in.

Polski had a shot cleared off the line by Soanes in the 86th minute and Diss broke quickly.

In added time Polski had chances which went wide.

However, Diss always looked capable of securing the three points although not at their best.
