DISS completed their pre-season matches with a 3-1 win against Blofield United who are normally one of the top three teams in the Anglian Combination Premier Division.

The Tangerines took the lead after just 54 seconds. Robert Woodcock tried to bring the ball out of his penalty area but was put under pressure by Danny Partridge.

A hurried clearance only went as far as Osiris Gomes and he shot in from 25 yards out. Robbie Lawrence had a shot saved by Woodcock and Lawrence, Luke Catchpole and Partridge were just wide with efforts.

Blofield counter-attacked with pace and looked capable of getting back into the game. Their equaliser came when Paul Warman moved forward to plant a fire header into the net from 10 yards out following a 31st minute free-kick.

Gomes ran from deep inside his own half in the 38th minute and had one shot kicked off the line and another well saved. Two minutes before the break Bartosz Potrawski made a fine diving save and could only watch as the loose ball was fired over the bar.

Partridge hit the inside of a post to a Gomes centre in the 65th minute.

Diss looked the more likely to score in the second half. It was evident that their preparations were more advanced than Blofield who start their season on August 19.

Partridge was scythed down following a penetrating run in the 69th minute. The ball fell to Ben Deacon but he was ruled offside after putting the ball into an unguarded net and a penalty was awarded.

Lawrence sent the ball low into the corner of the net to put Diss 2-1 ahead. Six minutes later Catchpole laid the ball back for Adie Hayes to hit the top corner of the net with a stunning 35-yard left-foot shot.
