DISS picked up their easiest league victory of the season, by seven wickets against a weak Mattishall side - and with other rain-affected results they now sit just three points off top spot in Alliance Division One.

An epic effort from the Diss ground staff meant the game started on time but was reduced to a 40-over match. Mattishall won the toss and elected to bat.

An opening wicket partnership of 50 was broken when Rob Tooke bowled Weetman for seven. A piece of clever bowling and good wicket-keeping saw Lockwood (52) stumped down the leg side by Ben Green off Rob Tooke's bowling.

Sanjay fell the next over when spinner Chris Cooper managed to catch the edge of Sanjay's bat with keeper Green taking the catch. Jason Cole, despite his team's precarious situation, tried to hit out but his luck eventually ran out when Liam Brown took a decent catch on the boundary off MoM Chris Cooper's bowling.

Stoltz fell just seven runs later, leaving Mattishall on 141-5, when paceman Rush found his form to clean bowl him for 34.

N Gostling (2) was superbly caught by Will Dawson, taking a fine diving catch over his shoulder, giving Chris Cooper his third wicket of the day. Cooper's third came just five runs later.

Cooper's fourth of final wicket of the day came when he squeezed a ball past R Gostling bowling him for just two. Simon Cooper was introduced for one over at the death, he cleverly drew Spaulding into a fall shot which presented him with a easy caught and bowled. In the final over Rush had Cross caught by a diving effort from Rob Tooke who scooped up the low chance.

The score of 166 looked about 70 runs short of a good total with Diss chasing so well recently.

James Wilby returned to the opener's position following a two-week absence and paired up with Liam Brown, the two never looked in real trouble despite being interrupted by two rain breaks. The partnership passed 50 within 11 overs. With the score two short of 100 Brown took on the spinner Balls but was caught at long-on for 45. James Wilby fell to a dubious lbw decision on 60.

Powerhouse hitter Chris Cooper (43no) and Dave Tooke (14no) guided Diss to an emphatic victory.
