Diss made it back to back victories at Rectory Meadow in the Premier Division of the Norfolk Alliance.

They beat Brooke by 71 runs on another scorching afternoon after a Rob Tooke century had helped them pile up 262 in their 50 overs.

After winning the toss skipper Mark Williamson opened with Mark Brawn and was the first to be dismissed when he was superbly caught at mid-on for six.

Brawn (19) put on a further 31 with David Tooke while debutant Jordan Warren (12) had a short time at the crease before his dismissal left Diss on 73-3.

Then followed a key partnership between the Tooke brothers. David Tooke passed an impressive half century as the score went past the 150 mark. He fell for a well-made 69 but that did not stop Robert Tooke from bringing up a half century as he put on 39 for the fifth wicket with Lewis Taylor (15).

Diss' last five wickets fell relatively cheaply, but no bowler could stop Tooke as in the final over he brought up a deserved 100 from 97 balls, with a wonderful late cut to the boundary. He was bowled shortly after by Vihm (3-47).

The Brooke run chase started confidently until a match-winning over from Daniel Taylor (4-26). First, he had Drinkell (11) caught behind, and then bowled Watson (0) with a beauty the very next delivery. With the penultimate ball he had the potential key wicket of overseas player Mutombodzi, caught behind for 0, as Brooke slipped to 47-3.

Grisley and Clabburn put on 40 for the next wicket but the introduction of young spinner James Hardy (4-30) paid dividends as he had the dangerous Clabburn caught in the deep for 29. Sam Hunt (10-1-35-0) also bowled well as the game slipped away from Brooke.

Panter (4) and Seager (4) both fell to Hardy as Brooke reached 125-6 after 34 overs. Opener Grisley (64), who had been watching most of the carnage from the non-striker's end, brought up a well-played 50, but his patience finally ran out when he became Hardy's fourth victim.

Brooke never looked like winning the game from then on and were bowled out for 191 in 47.1 overs.

The victory meant 25 more valuable points for Diss, lifting them three places and out of the drop zone. They face a tough test at in-form Stow on Saturday (noon).
