DISS cruised to an easy six-wicket victory over Bradenham to move into the quarter-finals of the Carter Cup on Sunday.

Diss look forward to playing in the next round on June 21. The draw for the next round is made this week.

Bradenham won the toss and elected to bat first on the excellent Rectory Meadow pitch, but were immediately reduced to 0-2 off Karl Gooderham's first over with two poor shots. Thumey and Whyte, the Bradenham batsmen, set about repairing the damage and took the score to 82, when Robert Tooke broke the partnership when he had Whyte well caught by wicketkeeper Ben Green for 37.

This seemed to have the effect of stopping the visitors' innings in its tracks and the Diss spinners, Tooke and Chris Cooper took complete control, as the next 11 overs only yielded 13 runs and with the Cooper brothers combining to get out Thumey.

Bradenham's innings stood at 95-5 off 30 overs and the game firmly back in Diss's favour. Denmark and Blakey pushed Bradenham's score on and with Diss contributing to the visitors' total with 26 wides, the Bradenham score finished on 188-9 off their allotted 60 overs. Gooderham, Tooke and Rush taking two wickets each.

The visitors score was unlikely to be enough, as the game was being played on the same pitch that had yielded over 550 runs the previous day and so it proved to be.

Despite Wilby and Davison falling cheaply and with Henry Rush, Saturday's hero with 130 not out, falling for 22, Chris Cooper took over and hit the ball to all parts of the outfield and raced to a quickfire 45 before he was caught.

The Diss score stood at 87-4 off only 19 overs. Robert Tooke then joined Simon Cooper and he also set about the bowling and with Simon also finding his feet, they completely dominated the Bradenham bowling and had reached the Bradenham total in only the 34th over, to set up a comfortable victory. Tooke finished on 68 not out and Simon Cooper 28 not out.

Bradenham 188-9 (Gooderham 2-28, R Tooke 2-29, Rush 2-34).

Diss 192-4 (Rob Tooke 68 not out, Curtis Cooper 45, Simon Cooper 28 not out).
