DISS began their build-up to the new season with an entertaining 3-3 draw against Premier Division Kirkley & Pakefield at Brewers Green Lane on Tuesday.

Diss raced into an early two-goal lead which was wiped out by goals from ex-Tangerines players. Both sides scored in a second half which saw many substitutions.

Danny Partridge raced away down the left wing in the second minute and cut along the goal line before pulling the ball back for Ben Deacon to shoot in from eight yards out.

Ex-Diss goalkeeper Nathan Pauling took control of the ball but hurried his clearance in the ninth minute with the ball flying into the net off the back of Partridge to give Diss a two-goal lead.

Justin Fox was brought down by Luke Catchpole in the 19th minute and got up to curl the free-kick into the net from 19 yards out.

Two minutes later Diss failed to clear a corner and Lee Gilman shot in from 10 yards out.

The first half could have produced more goals, Kirkley headed against the bar twice when Diss failed to mark at corners and Partridge shot high after Josh Hull played the ball to him, having had a shot blocked at the end of a flowing move two minutes before the break.

Steve Best put Diss 3-2 ahead in the 55th minute with a fine right- foot strike from 25 yards out.

Fox scored his second goal of the game when he scored a 75th-minute penalty awarded for a foul by Craigh Beckham.
