Diss have a torrid time

Tring 51, Diss 0

RUGBY: Tring looked to have secured their place in national rugby next year, after a bonus- point win over Diss at Cow Lane on Saturday, which has taken them clear of relegation.

A large crowd watched in perfect conditions as Tring ran a series of tries to which Diss had no answer.

Diss, already relegated this season, had to weather a torrid afternoon but, as ever, heads never fell and Diss had a number of promising attacks through the forwards, and the centre partnership of S Hipwell and F Hall. Diss were only denied by the consistently solid defence of the home team, who maintained their concentration to the final whistle.

With a number of players again injured or unavailable Carlton Gray and Alec Crayton stepped up fill the bench, Gray coming on for his first team debut in the second half.

Tring’s Liam Chennelis, playing on the wing, had a personal tally of five tries, out of the eight Tring accumulated and was a clear man of the match.

Whilst another very poor result for Diss, director of rugby David Hall is still very confident in the players’ ability to perform next year in London North 1.
