Le Diss Dimanche kept up their promotion challenge in Division Two of the City of Norwich Winter Petanque League on Sunday.

The Diss Waveney team beat promotion rivals North Elmham Three Generations 2-1, despite not playing at their best.

Liz Rudling, Dave Smith and Lindsay Penny had to work hard for their 13-7 triples success and Rudling and Penny trailed 6-1 before being gifted a lucky mishit to spark a terrific comeback to win 13-6 in the doubles.

Dave Smith lost his singles match against Derek Shoesmith 13-5.

Things looked grim for the other Diss Waveney team, L'Arbre Cerise, who were taking on champions-elect Sprowston Hedonists at Harleston Cherry Tree.

The vastly-experienced visitors won the triples 13-4 and Dave Marsh went down 13-5 in the singles.

It looked all over when Steven Penny and Scott Marsh trailed 9-0 in the doubles but they hit back in style to lead 12-9. But that was where their comeback ended as Martin Landamore and Simon Rump snatched a 13-12 success.

L'Arbre Cerise travel to North Elmham Cathedral on Sunday to play Three Generations, with both Diss teams completing their fixtures the following Sunday at The Cottage, Thorpe St Andrew, when Dimanche play Phoenix and Cerise meet Hubb Caps.
