Diss 7 , UEA II 1

After a great win last week against Harleston Magpies V, Diss looked to keep the pressure up on Norfolk League Division One leaders Norwich City.

The opening five minutes were quite close and neither side really took control. UEA were playing some neat hockey, but it was Diss who struck first through Sarah Woods with a shot from close range.

From then on it was nearly all Diss, with the UEA keeper having to make several saves to keep the score down. The best was from Toni Glover's penalty flick which the keeper palmed away. But nothing stops Glover from getting on the score sheet and she made it 2-0 with a great shot high into the net, before Sam Howard made it 3-0.

UEA pulled a goal back from a well-worked short corner, but no sooner had the game restarted than Diss added a fourth when Lucy Kershaw hit a brilliant first-time shot. Just before half-time Woods scored again from a great Glover run and pass to make it 5-1 at the break.

The second half started with more Diss pressure and it was no surprise when Glover scored again from just inside the D.

UEA never gave up and played some really good hockey, but never really troubled the Diss keeper Burton, thanks mainly to a great defence in front of her organised by the classy Emily Comer.

Diss scored their final goal of the game after some great play by Tash Blakely, whose probing runs had caused the UEA defence problems all day; she played in Howard, whose cross was turned in by Glover to complete her hat-trick.
