BOTTLE team Diss Reserves came so close to their first win of the season, although they did not play as well as they had in their previous two matches and had to settle for a second draw.

Both sides gave the ball away in a low tempo opening half an hour. The pace of the game increased with Ben Goddard clipping the outside of the Diss post in the 31st minute with Ryan MacFadden on target in reply after a patient build0up from the Tangerines two minutes later.

Damian Phelan forced Lewis Rhodes into a 36th minute diving save after he won the ball following a poor Woodbridge free kick. Aaron Bunn made his first save in the 41st minute when he pushed away a shot on the run from James Churchill.

Woodbridge had more of the first half possession but it was Diss who led 1-0 at half-time.

The goal came in the 43rd minute when Jody Peacher won the ball on the right and crossed for Danny Roche to control and shoot in from 12 yards out.

Bunn made a fine save diving low to his right to push a shot from Jordan Seaman round a post. Diss had their moments in attack with Bradley Takooree coming closest to increasing the lead. It seemed that they may hold out for a victory when Churchill hit a post in the 85th minute.

Three minutes later Seaman led a counter attack and floated the ball past Bunn from 10 yards out for the equaliser.

Diss man-of-the-match: Damian Phelan had a fine first half in midfield and came close to scoring. He switched to centre half in the second half and made some timely and accurate interceptions.

Diss Reserves: Aaron Bunn, Ryan McFadden, Max Kirkby, Carl Branson, Rob Coote, Jody Peacher, Simon Jackson, Damian Phelan, Danny Roche, Olly Verrell, Kirk Bardsley. Subs: Max Rissmann (for Coote 10 mins), Robbie Goodwin, Sean Cook, Karl Ansley (for Verrell 65 mins) and Bradley Takooree (for Roche 57 mins).

Attendance: 30.

Diss Reserves will be at home to Norwich United Reserves on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).
