Diss Town were hoping to capitalise on the previous week's win and re-boot their season after a poor run when they took on mid-table Ipswich Wanderers.

However, after a promising start, Town succumbed to a last minute strike to slump to a disappointing home defeat.

Former manager Mike Derbyshire returned to the dug-out as Jason Cooke's assistant but he was unable to do anything about a poor second half performance that saw the Tangerines throw away the lead.

Nuno Nogueira was lively for the hosts and it was the Portuguese midfielder who set up the first real chance in the 16th minute when he set up Stacey Payne in the inside left channel, Payne's shot going narrowly wide. Four minutes later Payne was the provider, this time for Will Goulding who should have done better from 18 yards.

Diss were building up a head of steam and a goal duly arrived in the 37th minute. Payne was once again involved, this time crossing to Goulding whose header was parried by Bailey Fairweather only for Virgillio Leitao to lash the loose ball home. The lead was no more than Town deserved but just before half-time the visitors should have been level when Sam Cheetham, with the goal at his mercy, shot back across goal, allowing the Diss defence to clear.

Diss should have emerged for the second half in confident mood after dominating the first period, but instead surrendered the initiative. An equaliser duly arrived in the 60th minute when Cheetham was allowed to advance unchallenged to the edge of the box where he unleashed a low drive that beat Jake Hayhoe at his near post.

Diss nearly grabbed a late winner when a Stephen Vincent header shaved the crossbar but it was the visitors who had the final say. Town were once again guilty of not making their tackles in midfield and allowed a cross from the right to be headed home by Sam Gorwood.

This was a game Diss should never have lost. A decent first half performance and a half-time lead was squandered with an abject second half. Wanderers created little, and carried no real threat, but the still went away with the points.
