Saturday 17th September 2011 – Ridgeons League Premier Division

Felixstowe and Walton United 1 Diss Town 4

Diss Town secured their third league win of the season with an impressive display at Dellwood Avenue. There was a brace a piece for both James Pipe and Danny Partridge. The 'Two Ps' have now scored nine of the ten goals notched by The Tangerines so far this season. Diss Manager Rob Taylor felt that his team had 'grown in confidence from the two previous performances despite defeats' to Wisbech and Wroxham. With regards to the win at Felixstowe he commented 'we struggled a bit in the first half despite leading but our system worked well in the second half and they didn't have a shot on target'.

Diss took the lead in the 13th minute when Partridge played a through ball into the path of Pipe. He hit a low shot which flew through the legs of home goalkeeper Fred Howe. Seven minutes later Felixstowe equalised in pouring rain through Jamie Cole. Diss led at half time courtesy of a 36th minute goal from Partridge. Mark Shadrack played a long clearance out of defence and Jonny King brought the ball down and laid into the path of Partridge. He was already of the run and took the ball on to slot past Howe.

Diss had a great chance to increase their lead on the hour mark. Partridge raced down the left, beat his defender and got to the goal line before pulling the ball back for Pipe. He was unmarked in the middle and seemed to have a simply chance to tap in fell over the ball. Ex-Tangerine Matty Ryland created the third goal for his former team. He was in his own left back position and played the ball back towards his own goal. He found Partridge in space and with time to score his fourth goal of the season.

Two minutes later Diss took the game out of the reach of their hosts. Shadrack played another long clearance out of defence to provide Pipe with the chance to shoot. His initial shot was blocked by Howe but Pipe had time to shoot into the unguarded goal for his fifth goal of the season.
