Diss Ladies 1, Norwich City III 2

This hockey match started with Diss looking to make home advantage count, but it was the visitors who took an early lead.

The Diss defence stood off a Norwich player in the D and the resulting cross got tucked away by the Norwich forward.

This spurred Diss on and had the best of the first half but without really troubling the Norwich keeper. Sue Moore in the Diss goal made two good saves and coped well with the Norwich long hits.

The Second half couldn't have started any better for Diss when some good play between Lucy Kershaw and Sam Howard, resulted in Howard driving the ball across the D and Emily Crosland crashed the ball home.

In the first half Diss tried to play too much Hockey but the more direct route seemed to work after the break. Diss kept league leaders Norwich pinned back into their own half for long periods, as the game went on some of the umpiring decisions got a bit questionable, and this caused the game to get a little bad tempered.

Norwich hit the crossbar with a shot with five minutes to go and then scored the winner with two minutes left, Diss didn't deserve to lose this.

This has been the story of the season so far, no team has outplayed Diss but the results haven't gone their way. Well played to all the girls although you didn't win, they should be proud of how they've played so far this season.

Player of the match was Gaby Rollingson.
