Diss Town, after winning their Norfolk Senior Cup third round replay against Downham 2-1, are back to Ridgeons League Division One action this weekend at Saffron Walden.

Diss and Downham met twice this week in the cup.

The tie was eventually settled in favour of the Tangerines in extra time to send Rob Taylor's team to his former club Dereham Town in the fourth round on Saturday November 22.

In the first game at Brewers Green Lane on Saturday Danny Foulsham put Downham ahead following a cross from Tim Kavanagh after just 52 seconds.

Andy Moody equalised in the 11th minute when he tapped in from close range after Matty Hails saved a shot from Ben Deacon following the first of many fine runs by Danny McKail.

Diss missed many good chances to settle the tie at the first attempt.

In the replay on Tuesday there were fewer chances and it was again Foulsham who put Downham ahead when he forced the ball home in a melée in the 73rd minute.

Steve Best caused problems in the home penalty area in the 84th minute and the ball found its way out for George Wilson to hit the equaliser with a rising shot which deflected up off the shoulder of a defender.

A long through-ball deflected up off a defender and Danny Partridge won the tie with a close-range rising shot with just eight minutes of added time left.

The need for the replay meant that the Ridgeons League Division One match at Gorleston, scheduled for Tuesday, will have to be re-arranged.

Diss Reserves were beaten 3-0 at Ipswich Wanderers Reserves.

Tom Allen, a striker for both Reserves and U18s, became the fifth different keeper so far this season as Ashley Smith played for the first team.

Tom Cooke opened the scoring in the 11th minute.

It was the only goal in a first half dominated by Wanderers.

Diss started the second half better but there were two more goals from Sam O'Connor and Kevin Young.

Diss Reserves will be away at Gorleston Reserves in a league match on Tuesday (ko 7.45pm).
