Two outing matches for Diss Angling Club saw two different styles in fishing but good weights - and the 100lb barrier was broken by Jimmy Ellis.

Hinderclay's New Lake was the venue for the second outing.

Bagging big fish, Ellis easily took command of the day's action and stormed to a massive 104lb 3oz and took top prize.

Second once again went to Andrew Mears who was over 40lb behind. He caught on the method and pole and took 63lb to the scales. Third went to Karl Hales with 53lb 7oz.

The first match was at Besthorpe farm shop fishery and fishing the surface was the key to getting a winning bag of fish. Bill Davies drew a flyer in an outing match and couldn't wait to attack the peg.

Once the rain came the carp headed back down to the deck and Davies followed suit and returned to fish over the hemp line and took three more carp before time was called.

Davies weighed in 50¾lb to take top place.

Andrew Mears worked hard for most of the match but had been outclassed on what is normally a good water for him and despite landing 19 fish only managed 43lb 1oz. Third was Ben Wilby with 30lb 3oz.

The midweek match was at the Mere in Diss and small crucians graced the net of Jason Rigby.

He used up some two-day-old groundbait but the fish enjoyed his offering and Jason ended with 19lb 6oz.

Simon Thompson was second as he weighed in 10lb 15oz. Barry Day once again kept up his charge to win the Senior Cup ending the day with 9¼lb.

The West Charity Match is being fished on August 24 on the Mere in Diss and not as in the club book. The match is £15 all in with the draw at 9am fishing 10am to 3pm. A raffle is being held afterwards and prizes should be brought along.

For the match being held at Hoxne on August 17, members most book in with Andrew Mears by August 15 on 0778 6041177.

Members must take their club books into Peg Angling Supplies in Diss and show their card so that they can be given the combination to the lock to gain entry into the car park.

Due to unforeseen circumstances all junior matches this season have been cancelled.
