Scole United 6, Thorpe Village 2

Scole started very quickly and it wasn't long before they took the lead in this Anglian Combination Division Two clash. Ed Cussons was released down the left and his cut back was finished by Luke Ashford.

It was soon 2-0 when a free-kick by Cussons was flicked on by Adam Solley and again finished by Ashford.

The third was Scole's best of the game – a smooth passing move involving several players tore apart Thorpe and Cussons volleyed in with his right foot. It was four before half-time as Ashford turned provider, his cross volleyed in by Ben Cussons.

Thorpe gave themselves a lifeline just before half-time when a long, harmless free-kick slipped through the normally rock steady Jack Buckmaster's hands and over the line.

Scole were told to keep the tempo high in the second half, but in reality it was a sloppy, poor performance in comparison to the first half.

Both Cussons brothers were taken off and rested and subsitute Shaun Flint scored within a minute of coming on with a right-footed finish.

Thorpe pulled a second back when they split the Scole back four and their forward finished excellently.

Scole then got their final goal of the game from a penalty when Sam Wilby was dragged down. Ashford tucked away to claim a hat-trick.

The last 10 minutes saw an exhausted Thorpe side battered by Scole, but some wasteful finishing and the woodwork denied James Edwards and Callum Ellis.

Man of the match: Luke Ashford. Sometimes frustrating, but was really on it for this game and scored a cracking hat-trick.

Scole Utd Res 3 Horsford Ud Res 3

Scole were unfortunate to only get a draw against the Division Six leaders.

The hosts took the lead halfway through the first half when Sean Taylor hit a tremendous volley into the top corner from 18 yards out. It wasn't long before Horsford equalised, but Scole went ahead again when Sean Burden delighfully chipped the keeper.

Horsford again equalised, just before half-time.

In the second half, Horsford probably edged possession and it looked like they had won the game when they split the Scole back four before a forward rounded King to make it 3-2.

But Scole fought back hard and were finally awarded a penalty which was converted by Adam Burden to make the final score 3-3.

Scole MoM: Ben Norton.
