Garboldisham B followed on from a 25-point win over Beccles B the previous week with a good performance away at Old Catton.

Skipper Peter Barnes won the toss and elected to bat, the Old Catton openers bowled tightly on a wicket with an unpredictable nature and were on top of the game in the first 18 overs reducing Garboldisham to 52 for 5.

However, Tom Spinks set about rescuing the innings with help from Andy Rumbles (20) and Joe Melvin (10) moving the score to 111. When he was joined by Ben Tippett they batted beautifully together, making an unbeaten partnership of 78 with Tippett scoring freely.

Both made their maiden half-centuries for the club, Tippett (50no) and Spinks (64no). A total of 189 would be a testing target for the home side.

Jimmy Gooderham and Josh Asker opened the bowling, both generated good pace and deviation from the Sprowston Rec wicket. At 37-2 skipper Barnes introduced the left-armer John Rogers, whose full repertory of flight and turn produced figures of 4-23 from his 12 overs. Jack Stevenson kept wicket very tidily, standing up to Rogers to bag a catch and a stumping.

Melvin and Tippett bowled well before Rumbles took the last two wickets in two balls - leaving him the chance of a hat-trick next week.

Garboldisham B 189-7 beat Old Catton B 106, all out.
