Harleston Squash Club's tournament finals, held in front of an enthusiastic audience of family and friends, ensured that Harleston's squash season ended on a high note.

As usual all matches were played in a competitive but good spirit, indicative of the club's friendly but competitive membership.

The finals reflected not only the continued enthusiasm of the junior players but also their ever increasing skills and experience, several featuring in the adult finals.

An indication of the clubs increasing strength in depth saw many players featuring in the finals for the first time and new names appearing on the 'order of play' and subsequently the trophies!

The Preliminary Championship for younger less experienced players saw Lydia Brownlow narrowly lose to a determined and skilful Sam McCluskey 3-2. The Junior Championship (U16s) saw Josh Brownlow beat Tom Snowling 3-0 in a highly skilful match.

The plate completion saw another junior, Oliver Bickley give new member Alex Grimes a run for his money, eventually losing out 3-0.

The League Cup, a handicap competition for league players, saw the return of Josh Brownlow and Alex Grimes to the courts, Alex again winning 3-0, but made to work hard for his success.

The Veterans' Championship saw a very spritely and energetic pairs of 'veterans' play one of the most competitive and hard-fought matches of the night, Niall Andrews eventually beating Michael Earrye 3-1.

Andy Jackson and Norman Hilton took on Carl Snowling and Michael Earrye in the Doubles Championship, Andy and Norman eventually overcome 3-1 in a 'no quarter asked or given' final, well refereed by Simon Watchorn.

Sue Renaut and Wendy Green contested the Ladies Championship final in probably one of the best finals of the night in a match of high quality and energy, Sue eventually winning her first final 3-1.

The Men's Championship completed the tournament finals with club champion and coach, Ben Jackson, playing the vastly experienced and competitive team captain, Richard Self.

Richard put up an excellent challenge for Ben's title and made him work hard for his 3-0 win in a highly entertaining match of quality squash enjoyed by all.

The League Championship, run over the whole season, was won by Dave Renaut with a record 213 points with Richard Self a close runner-up on 202.
